Progress Report! Progress Report!

And, boy, am I super delighted to say there has and is continuing to be progress on all the Christmas knitting projects.  It is official – I am going to do one scarf on a knitting loom, and I am also going to do a pair fingerless mitts on a loom.  Although I love knitting with my needles, there are times when you need to move the creativity along folks.  So, I am branching out to the knitting loom(s).

There is a pretty serious part of me, though, positive I should have spent longer practicing on the loom before actually casting on for a gift.  I am not going to learn unless there is something pretty expected out of the experiment.  If said experiment goes well, then there will be more looms in my future.

Colored Lights, Christmas Music, and a Bag of Knitting

Standard

On Netflix there is a “movie” of winter landscapes with Christmas music as the background.  It is in the same frame of their A Fireplace For Your Home series.  Instead of the scene being a crackling fireplace, it is beautiful snowy landscapes.  The set-up will be perfect with this playing and a real fire in our fireplace.  *hugs self in happy anticipation*

B, my husband, is putting up our Christmas tree.  This is a most interesting process to Willie who really didn’t pay attention last year.  B is now down in the floor working with lights and Willie is lying right by his head, watching intently what Carlos is doing with his hands.  And, for the past several minutes I’ve stalked the dog for a picture, but he has been observant – plus, mommy was probably too excited to be calm and so I’m sure Willie picked up on this, too.

Tonight I am going to work on the scarf and some on the sweater.  I need to make more progress on these two most of all.  Poppy needs his scarf before heading up North.  Having the sweater done in time for Carlos to wear for Old Christmas would be sweeeet!

Knitting Like The Wind And A New Discovery

Standard

Knitting projects are on the needles, Christmas music sometimes plays in the background, the dogs are in various stages of sleep around me, the turtle lounges happily in his day box, and the yarn feels perfect in my hands.  You just can’t beat a day like that can you?  I can’t, especially since they don’t come around very often.

Currently there are three projects on the needles and a fourth will soon go onto a knitting loom.  The knitting loom is a new experience for me.  I played with a couple in the past, but haven’t done a project start to finish on one.  Part of me is really looking forward to the new experience and part of me is just a little unsure because the project is part of a Christmas present.  Luckily for me the present isn’t needed until Old Christmas, January 7th, 2015.

These are the projects, so far, on the needles:

Hat in black classic

Garter stitch scarf

Sweater

In order – a garter stitch scarf, a hat I am going to do some embroidery on, and a sweater.  Yes, there is excitement about these projects!  It has been a long time since knitting has lifted my spirits as much as it has.  Hopefully this feeling will never be misplaced again.

And the discovery?  It is a show on YouTube called Come Knit With Us.  Hosted by two knitters from their LYS in Arizona, it is educational, entertaining, and simply just fun.  It really does feel as if you are knitting with friends, and since there isn’t a local group I can join on a continuous basis because of health reasons, this is perfect for yours truly.  If you haven’t seen this delicious show you should give it a view.
